We are presenting Linchpin in collaboration with our colleagues and partners from DEISER at booth G6 in the Expo Hall.
For years, mobile internet use has been on the rise. In 2015, over half of all Google searches worldwide originated from mobile devices. Yet another milestone was reached in 2016, as smartphones surpassed other devices in terms of where internet is accessed.
The new Linchpin intranet app fits right into this type of smartphone usage. Though a mobile intranet isn’t a chat application, it should also have social and communication features to provide mobile users with an interactive experience for mobile users.
Linchpin is our Confluence-based social intranet solution. Our teams work continuously and intensively on the components of this suite. //SEIBERT/MEDIA’s Custom User Profile add-on allows users to expand their user profiles in Confluence with new fields and to personalize these fields for different user groups. Our development team has delivered Custom User Profile version 1.17, with practical new features, bug fixes, and improvements.
When considering a staff intranet solution, it’s difficult for many organisations to define their exact requirements. This is because, quite simply, there are too many. It’s not unusual for the problem to appear overwhelming and difficult to solve. Parsec Pacific was asked by a customer recently to help them define their user requirements for a new staff intranet. The organisation has about 5000 staff and provides education services to about 40,000 school aged children, and were already using a mixture of technologies to provide some staff intranet services but it wasn’t working effectively.
We are preparing to be at the first European Atlassian Summit this year in Barcelona, and we’ll be there in full-force! It’s looking like it will be the biggest event this year as it’s an Atlassian Summit and Atlas Camp rolled into one event. From May 1 to May 5 you can join us and many others at the Placa de la Universitat and the Fira Barcelona Gran Via to learn all about the software in the Atlassian ecosystem, network with like-minded people, and have a lot of fun.
Though unavoidable, unforeseen changes can at least be insured. Change within companies, however, is another matter, for which there is (to my knowledge) still no insurance. How, then, do we deal with it? Which role might an intranet play with regard to corporate change?
What if it were possible to automatically populate Confluence user groups using profile information, particularly information provided by Custom User Profiles?
With our DUG – Dynamic User Groups add-on, we have implemented exactly this function. For example, when you create a group for a particular location, employees who have this location in their profile will be automatically added to the group.
