With the opening of the Atlassian Summit 2013, the Confluence team has released the new version of Atlassian’s social collaboration system. Especially the new Blueprints for spaces and the opportunity to share links easily within Confluence are true highlights. Let’s have a look at the improvements in Confluence 5.3.
In general, the establishing of a wiki must be supported through a series of measures. If these activities are successful, the system – as I know from my own experience – will quickly be accepted and used by employees. At //SEIBERT/MEDIA, TWiki has been used since June 2007, now containing a total of eight Webs. The main Web alone grew to contain more than 1000 topics within just a few months.
What before was true for the video recorder is unfortunately again true for many current websites: users have difficulties in completing tasks and reaching their goals. What started as a hackathon project at //SEIBERT/MEDIA, has become an alpha version that is available on the Atlassian Marketplace. The plugin Microblogging for Confluence is the first mircoblog extension for Atlassian’s social collaboration platform and therefore a solution that allows a seamless and direct information exchange with the team within the wiki – without leaving Confluence.
In this video podcast, Martin Seibert and Alex Boerger discuss Trello and Basecamp as JIRA alternatives in the enterprise. In the beginning, they give a brief introduction and overview of the functionality and best practice of each product. The discussion shows that each product has its own market and the usage depends on your use case. If you are a small team of up to 5 people, Basecamp and Trello might be a good choice.
