As markets have grown and competition has gotten stronger, organizations are now looking for the best tools and methodologies for delivering the most value to the customer in the shortest amount of time. Everything we’ve talked about in this series previously has been conceptual. Today will be the first time in this implementation plan that we attempt to enact actual change in our teams. Creating our implementation plan will be the start of our actions.
External dependencies play a relevant role in product development and in the collaboration of the individual teams in the ART (Agile Release Train) and in collaboration with other teams. For efficient collaboration, any dependencies, blockers, or risks should be directly identified and resolved. In addition, external teams that are not in the ART should be included in the PI (Program Increment) planning process. In this way, it is possible to identify at an early stage whether there are any external dependencies that the team must take into account accordingly.

To successfully drive your organizational change, you need to have a team. At first, this team might be external consultants, but over the long term, this will be your “Lean-Agile Change Agents.” This is the team that will provide the knowledge and engine to power your change. It is important that, organization-wide, everyone knows who the Lean-Agile Change Agents are to use this team as a resource when implementing SAFe and continue to use them as a resource after implementation.
