2024 marks the beginning of a new year, and for many of us, the past year has swiftly passed, including our Google team.  Not only have the tools within Google Cloud and Google Workspace continued to evolve, but we, as a team, have also experienced a lot. In this article, we reflect on the past year and celebrate the successes achieved as Team Google.

Live and In Color - On The Screen

First and foremost, let's explore who constitutes 'Team Google.' It might be surprising, but our team has now expanded to 23 individuals! We've organized ourselves into two primary areas: Google Cloud and Google Workspace. As the name implies, some of us specialize in the collaborative tools within Google Workspace, such as Looker, BigQuer, and Vertex AI, while others concentrate on data and analytics within Google Cloud. So our team covers a lot of everything!

We also set up our own YouTube channel in 2023 and have been busy filling it with content. If you read this article carefully, you will notice that we link to the videos at one point or another.

Live and In Color - On-site At Events (Part 1)

Team Google has been on the move quite a bit this year. We participated in numerous events across Germany and, most notably, organized some of our own! These included several premieres and exciting events centered around the quintessential topic of AI. Here's a summary of when and where we hit the road:

Speaking of premieres, we have to highlight our new event series, Future of Data, hosted in various Google offices across Germany. We kicked off in Munich in March, followed by the next venue in Hamburg in May. During the Hamburg event, we seized the opportunity to attend the OMR Festival. As one of our loyal Google customers, OMR provided us with a unique chance to record an interview with their Managing Director and People Manager, where we posted our most burning questions (in German).

After successful events in Munich and Hamburg, hosting an event in Berlin was a must. In September, the Google office in Berlin served as the venue for the third edition of Future of Data, attracting 140 participants. Notably, this marked our second visit to Berlin in 2023. Earlier in the year, we also captured a success story with our client Holzrichter in the same vibrant city.

Live and In Color - On Site At Events (Part 2)

On July 6th, Google marked a significant milestone in German digitalization with the opening of the Google Cloud Region Berlin. Seizing this opportunity, we organized a satellite event (video in German) in Frankfurt to concurrently follow and celebrate the program from Berlin, engaging with interested company representatives from the region!

The highlight of this celebration was undoubtedly the presentation (in German) by Dr. Holger Schmidt, Editorial Director and Head of D:ECONOMY at F.A.Z., on the topic of GenAI (Generative Artificial Intelligence).

Beyond Future of Data and the satellite events (in German), we also hosted additional events, including our Modern Work Day and Gen AI Start-up Lab in Wiesbaden. We actively participated in Digital X in Cologne alongside our customer Marantec (in German) and organized the Future of Work event in Berlin (note: be cautious not to confuse this with our Future of Data event series 😄)

We celebrated another premiere on June 22, the launch of our 10x - Scale up your business event (in German).  The topic was: "Start-ups, scale-ups, and the next unicorns and zebras" (in German). We don’t mean any real animals, of course, but the classifications of companies in the start-up scene 😉

We have some exciting news to kick off 2024 – we are planning a sequel for 10x on June 6, 2024. Mark the day in your calendar!

The Trend With Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)

As evident from Dr. Holger Schmidt's earlier presentation, the topic of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) gained significant popularity this year. Tools like ChatGPT and Google Bard have experienced a rapid surge in popularity. Beyond these prominent names, a plethora of specialized AI tools for diverse applications has emerged. Whether dealing with images, videos, or text, there is now almost always a suitable AI available to assist.

Many of these tools are built on Vertex AI, the machine learning platform seamlessly integrated into Google Cloud. However, generative artificial intelligence has not only made its mark in Google Cloud but has also found its way into Google Workspace. With Duet AI

all users can expect to enhance their productivity within Google Workspace. Google recently introduced Gemini, poised to further propel advancements in this domain. For a detailed exploration, check out a brief video by Flo and Daniel (in German).  The trending topic of GenAI is undoubtedly set to keep us engaged in the coming year and beyond!

An Eventful Year Comes To An End

It has been an eventful year, marked by notable success for our team. So successful that Google honored us with the title of ‘Premier Partner in Sell & Service’ for Google Workspace! This recognition is a testament to our strength in work transformations, and we are thrilled to continue growing even stronger.

As a well-deserved reward, we embarked on an exciting team trip to Dublin, Ireland. There, we had the pleasure of visiting our Google 'colleagues' at their EMEA headquarters, with whom we collaborated throughout the year, engaging in strategic planning for the final sprint of 2023.

And now, as time swiftly passes, we find ourselves at the end of 2023 and the conclusion of this article. We are grateful for your company, whether as a reader, customer, or client, for being a part of our journey, large or small, throughout the year. Until next year – whether we see you, hear from you, or read from you – we look forward to the continued journey together!
