Agile Hive for Atlassian Data Center

A framework for Agile scaling

The scaling of Agile methods and processes has started to become more of a priority for a growing number of organizations.

Companies are seeking to take advantage of the benefits made possible through high-level, Agile team collaboration.  This involves things like being prepared to handle market changes, higher quality product output, sharper customer focus in development as well as setting a better course to navigate more complexity.

To achieve all of that, there are several structured approaches in the form of documented and proven frameworks.  One of these is the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe, for short).  SAFe supports the cross-team development of large software products and provides a sound process framework.

Implementing SAFe with Agile Hive

Agile Hive - SAFe mit Atlassian-Tools

Agile Hive - SAFe with Atlassian Tools is our own product.  It helps organizations to more effectively and efficiently adapt the Scaled Agile Framework to existing and established systems.  It uses the Atlassian products Jira and Confluence as its foundation.

Agile Hive extends Jira with many elements and levels.  It makes the system ready for SAFe requirements.  The integration in Confluence is documentation based and is partly automated.  This means that customers can continue to use their existing project management and tracking system, as well as their Confluence wiki.  This means there is no switch to a 3rd-party solution if you want to map SAFe digitally.

Additionally, an Agile Hive implementation helps to create prerequisites on the software end of things to scale Agile successfully and according to the Scaled Agile Framework.

The new Atlassian standard for enterprise customers

Atlassian Data Center

Agile Hive is based on the Atlassian systems Jira and Confluence.  They are architecturally and conceptually different deployment options:

  • Server - the classic, on-premise version
  • Cloud - "Software as a Service" hosted by Atlassian
  • Data Center

Atlassian Data Center offers the same end-user functionality as the traditional Server deployment, but it's tailored to the higher administrative requirements from enterprise organizations.

Key benefits include resilience and high availability through clustering, instant scalability, optimized (geo)performance, and enhanced technical support for teams working from multiple locations globally.

Additionally, admin teams benefit from several different features that are exclusive to Data Center.  These are things like project and case archiving as well as updates without downtime in Jira Data Center.

Agile Hive is Data Center ready

For apps that enhance Atlassian systems functionality to be officially approved for data centers, they have to go through an extensive approval process.

Agile Hive is officially Data Center approved.  It is now available on the Atlassian Marketplace, fully compatible with Jira Data Center.

You can now implement Agile Hive in the self-hosted infrastructure of your choice - whether you are using the regular Server installation or running the Data Center version of Jira.
