Agile Hive - SAFe® in Jira

It would appear the change of seasons has put a “spring” in the steps of our Development team. They’ve been hard at work implementing a number of features and functionality.

As usual, we’ll start with a look at Feature Highlights from this most recent release, the Sneak Peek for a look at the road ahead, and finally the Monthly Review. Let’s get started!

Feature Highlights

Agile Hive Update February - Feature Updates

We are certain many will be happy to hear that now, Milestones can now be created on the Program Roadmap. This can be done either via the +Add Milestone button, or by simply clicking in the appropriate area on the timeline itself.

Also in the Program Roadmap, all planned issues now show the progress as based on the completed story points of the child issues. As in the image above, these are shown in dark blue.

Agile Hive Update February - individual ART issues related directly to portfolio

As part of SAFe® fundamentals, we know that when an Agile Release Train (ART) is part of a Large Solution Train, individual ART issues can still be related directly to the Portfolio itself. This is now supported in Agile Hive so now, ART issues can have either a Large Solution or a Portfolio issue as a parent. Additionally, this also means you can now use a Portfolio SAFe® configuration in a Full SAFe® configuration. As seen in the image above, this comes with a small workaround - you will need to create a “dummy” Large Solution project in the project hierarchies which will then connect your ART to the Portfolio. With this feature in place, a Full and Portfolio SAFe® configuration can now coexist. However, since this Large Solution project should not be used, you would simply not give your users “write permissions” for this project.

Agile Hive Update February - Public REST API

Agile Hive, as of version 3.43, has offered a Public REST (REpresentational State Transfer) API. If you are interested in learning more about integrating data from your Agile Hive instance into other applications, you can learn more at seibert.biz/agilehive-rest-api.

And our final Feature Highlight, we’ve added a brand new filter to the Breakout Board. This filter, found in the sidebar, is independent of the quick filters of your Jira boards. This filter can be used to hide Risks, Objectives, Milestones, Impediments, and Improvements within your sidebar.

Now, let’s move on to the Sneak Peek.

Sneak Peek

Agile Hive Update February - Sneak peek - PI Burn-up

Agile Release Train (ART) Program Increment (PI) Burn-up
This is presently still in development. We anticipate the feature being available in the Program Reports within the next few days.

Properties Rework
Always working to improve system performance and efficiency, on the backend we are redesigning how data is managed within Agile Hive. The goal is to reduce load times and improve overall system performance. We are making this our top priority!

Agile Hive Update February - Dependencies

Dependencies on Program Roadmap
Similar to the Breakout Board and the Program Board, visual dependencies will be provided in the Program Roadmap. This is easily our most requested feature enhancement by our customers at present.
Monthly Review
Every four weeks, we at Seibert Media provide an update of the current state of Agile Hive, along with a preview of upcoming features. We also allow the opportunity to exchange ideas with us in real-time. There are parallel reviews provided for both our German and English speaking audiences and you can sign up to add these to your calendar:
