Set up similar projects fast
Sometimes you need to create and manage multiple projects with the same configuration, the same set of tasks, and the same agile board, e.g. customer projects.
All you can do in native Jira is select the “share settings with an existing project” checkbox, which is the closest you can get to a project template. However, this feature is hard to understand and even harder to get right.
There is no way of creating board or issue templates in native Jira. You can clone issues, but the functionality is limited, e.g. you can clone an epic but not its child issues. And there’s no way of cloning boards.
With Templating.app, you can build project, issue, and board templates to streamline and standardize multi-project management in Jira. You can create a new project and skip all the complicated configuration steps, then add a predefined set of tasks, from epic to subtask, without having to create them individually. Finally you can add a ready-made agile board to the project and not have to tinker with any board or card settings.
Set up projects even if you’re not an admin
Only project or Jira admins can create projects natively. That effectively stops non-admin users from doing multi-project management in Jira effectively, e.g. those who need to create customer projects have to raise an IT request every time they make a sale. IT then have to ask lots of follow-up questions about what kind of project settings they require. This stops the user from working on the customer project, which could lead to customer service delays.
With Templating.app, users can work with IT to configure a project template with all the schemes and settings they need. Then IT can delegate permission to create projects based on templates to specific users and groups. This allows non-admins to create and manage lots of projects and saves IT teams a ton of administration.
