Confluence Cloud Migration: Maximize your ROI with the Aura Apps Suite

With Confluence Data Center’s (DC) end of life approaching in 2029, the Confluence Cloud Migration has become a strategic priority for thousands of organizations worldwide. Yet many administrators face a costly challenge long before the actual migration begins: “app bloat”. For every functional need – table filtering, complex math formulas, or automated numbering – a separate third-party app is installed. The result? Spiralling subscription costs, increased maintenance complexity and a fragmented user experience.

Aura Apps Suite for Confluence – overview of Formatting, Workflow, Table Filter, Analytics, Karma and Mantra apps.

The transition from DC to the Cloud provides the perfect opportunity for a “clean-up”. Rather than migrating dozens of costly, individual apps to the Cloud, smart organizations are using this opportunity to simplify their infrastructure. Consolidate your tech stack into the Aura Apps Suite using our automated Aura Migration Hub to transform your Confluence instance into a lean, high-performance workspace while significantly reducing the complexity of your Cloud migration.

Why Your Confluence Cloud Migration Is the Perfect Moment to Consolidate

Moving your existing third-party apps to Aura isn’t just a technical update – it’s a strategic business move with measurable, long-term benefits:

Massive Cost Savings: Drastically reduce your annual Atlassian Marketplace spend by replacing multiple individual subscriptions with one comprehensive suite.

Unified User Experience: Eliminate the learning curve. Aura provides a consistent, modern design across all functions, making it easier for your team to create beautiful, functional content.

Reduced Admin Overhead: Fewer apps mean fewer security reviews, fewer updates to manage, and a single point of contact for world-class support.

Performance Optimization: A cleaner instance is a faster instance. Reducing the number of active apps improves page load times and overall stability.

Zero-Risk Confluence Cloud Migration: Your Step-by-Step Roadmap

Our Migration Wizard is purpose-built for Confluence Administrators who prioritize data integrity above all else. With built-in Dry Run simulations and automated versioning, you can transition with 100% confidence, knowing that your original content is always preserved.

Important: Not all migrations work the same way. There are two distinct patterns:

Aura Formatting – direct DC → Cloud migration: Aura Formatting migrates seamlessly as part of the standard Atlassian migration process. No intermediate step required – your DC content moves directly to Aura Formatting in the Cloud.

All other apps – two steps required: Tools like Stiltsoft Table Filter, LaTeX Math, Numbered Headings, and Workflows cannot migrate directly from DC to Aura. Instead, the process works as follows:

    1. DC → Cloud (same app): Use the Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant to migrate your existing third-party app to its Cloud version first. For example: DC Stiltsoft Table Filter → Cloud Stiltsoft Table Filter.
    2. Cloud → Cloud (app consolidation): Once the app is running in Cloud, use the Aura Migration Hub to replace it with the Aura equivalent. For example: Cloud Stiltsoft Table Filter → Aura Table Filter. The Aura Migration Hub handles Step 2 only and always operates Cloud-to-Cloud.

We understand that the fear of data loss is a significant concern during any infrastructure shift. To address this and ensure a flawless transition, we have developed a comprehensive roadmap for every stage of the journey. Explore the detailed technical insights for each specific migration path below and discover how to consolidate your tech stack without compromise:
