Upon further investigation, we discovered that they were on an Advantaged Pricing Plan—a positive discovery that had unfortunately caught them off guard. The challenge? Prices for the Advantaged Plan were raised in February, even though list prices remained unchanged. Unaware of their status on the Advantaged Pricing, the customer hadn’t noticed this before.
What are Advantaged Pricing Plans?
Advantaged Pricing Plans are a central part of Atlassian’s pricing strategy. They were introduced to ease the transition for long-term customers to list prices and gradually bring them in line with market prices. Currently, plans for Confluence Data Center, Jira Software Data Center, and Jira Service Management Data Center are between 12-51% below the current Data Center list prices depending on the user level, purchase date, and specific product.
Although customers on Advantaged Pricing Plans have enjoyed savings for years by avoiding list prices, any sudden price hike can be unpleasant. Two particular issues contribute to this confusion. First, advantaged prices are not always clearly indicated in quotes, which can create uncertainty for both customers and partners about their plan’s advantageous status.
