The Influence of Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 on Doing Business

We're living in a time that's characterized by rapid change. Almost all facets of life are affected by change, and the field of business is no exception. Communicating with each other is done more and more in digital form, and it's difficult to keep a good overview. The desire to be (or become) a dynamic and productive company is just as great. Well, we have some good news for you: it doesn't have to remain a desire, because productivity software can help you get much closer to this goal!

The decision for a software suite in a company is not always an easy one. The top dog in all things to do with productivity software used to be Microsoft Office, which is called Microsoft 365 nowadays. However, there are increasingly more alternatives, in particular Google Workspace. As there are a large number of options, you could rightly ask: which decision is the correct one? To make this decision a bit easier, it's worth looking more closely. So: who's in the running for your company?

Google Workspace vs. Microsoft 365

In the starting blocks are the two most well-known business tools: Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Before you decide in favor of one of the tools, we recommend comparing the two. Quadrant Strategies presents such a comparison in its study "Google Workspace vs. O365 - Impact on Business". However, the focus is not on the functions, but on the experiences of the users. They surveyed a total of 750 people - those who use Google Workspace at their workplace and those who work with Microsoft 365. The aim was to investigate the impact of the two software suites on the companies that used them.

In fact, the results of the study show that both tools have a positive impact on collaboration and communication within the companies that were surveyed. Google Workspace stands out, however, because it is considered more seamless and direct, among other things.

However, the use of productivity software also had a positive impact in the areas of mobility and satisfaction. Google Workspace appears to offer a more robust mobile experience than Microsoft 365: Google Workspace users not only work on the go more often, but also complete more tasks than colleagues using Microsoft 365.

Of course, the tools not only have an impact on productivity. Their impact even extends into the culture of the company. And this is where it gets interesting - after all, culture and technology are among the decisive factors for a company's success! The 2017 Forbes article "How Technology Impacts Workplace Culture" points out that technology can help break down hierarchical barriers by facilitating communication between employees at different levels in the company.

In this way, technology should also help to overcome demographic, cultural and geographical differences in the workforce through remote working. Of course, software alone can not and should not change corporate culture, but it can make an important contribution. For example, employees at companies using Google Workspace have rated their workplace better than employees at companies using Microsoft 365.

The finish line

The bottom line is that Google Workspace beats its competitor Microsoft 365 on a number of critical factors that matter to businesses. The results suggest that Google Workspace can bring more innovation and productivity to businesses.
