A Resilient Future

This article is the third and final of a series of articles (see part one & two) exploring the findings of a Google-sponsored report, “The Resilience Formula: Overlaying Agility and Cost Optimisation” based on a survey that was carried out between August and October of 2020. The qualitative survey was fielded to 300 senior IT decision-makers at a variety of companies from a range of industries spread throughout the following European countries: United Kingdom (UK), Republic of Ireland (ROI), DACH (Germany (D), Austria (A), Switzerland (CH)), France, the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway), and Southern Europe (Italy, Spain). Google Workspace is a comprehensive business productivity solution consisting of communication tools such as Gmail (email), Google Meet (video conferencing), and chat; collaboration tools such as Docs (text documents), Sheets (spreadsheets), and Slides (presentations); and Drive (cloud storage); and overarching administration with device management and other security features.

In our final article revisiting the results of the report, “The Resilience Formula: Overlaying Agility and Cost Optimisation”, we look towards the future. A future where we hopefully step out from under the weight of a global pandemic, take what we’ve learned, and applied the elements of resilience towards our business practices in the long term.

Onward and Upward

“Responsiveness was clearly demonstrated during the pandemic when business survival depended on being able to respond quickly to life-changing events. However, some IT leaders believe that it will become the most important of all ten metrics when companies are building resilience in the longer term.”

That statement taken directly from the report boils it all down to the basics; responsiveness, flexibility, resilience, and adaptability will be keys to future organizational successes. These concepts now need to be spread throughout organisations at every level, particularly now and moving forward with so many employees working remotely.

At its core, Google Workspace allows employees to work, interact, and complete projects in a manner that keeps pace with the changing market environments. Developed with teamwork at its core, it allows teams to work from anywhere, communicating and collaborating in real-time, Workspace is scalable to meet the needs of small teams of two all the way up to Enterprise level needs.

According to Tom Samuel, chief executive at Harmonic, a digital transformation, and management consulting firm specializing in transport, outsourcing, infrastructure, and defense, “delivering what the customer wants and seizing opportunities before your competitors can are the hallmarks of a successful business”

Respondents ranking their companies 8+ for ‘responsiveness to market changes’ by length of time using Google Workspace
